Features

Every detail, made for efficiency

01

One Window, One Label

Apps with a single window stay collapsed as compact icons. Apps with several windows split into one card per window, each showing the window name, so a single click takes you straight to the one you want.

02

Launchpad, Built In

Bring up the app launcher without ever leaving the taskbar. Every app is laid out in one view: find it, click it, it opens.

03

The Drawer

Drag the apps you rarely use into the drawer on the right and the taskbar stays clean; drag one back out the moment you need it. Pin your favorites inside and the drawer doubles as a launcher.

04

Drag Anything, Anywhere

Icons, window cards and files all reorder by dragging. Drop a card into the drawer to stash it, drag it back out and it lands exactly where you let go. The layout is yours to define.

Reshape your Dock, starting now.

Version 0.9.2 · 8.8 MB · Requires macOS 12 or later · Universal for Apple silicon and Intel

What's new in 0.9.2

New versions now come to you — no more clicking Check for Updates… yourself.

When one is available, a small dot appears on the menu bar icon and the menu item changes to "Install X.Y.Z…" with a red badge. Both stay until you install or skip that version.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Tungsten Edge free?

Currently free. The release version will be a one-time purchase with no subscription; founding users who confirm their email before launch keep it free forever. Source code is public on GitHub.

How is it different from uBar or DockDoor?

uBar is a mature paid taskbar; DockDoor adds window previews to the Dock. Tungsten Edge is an open-source, full Dock replacement: multi-window apps get one card per window and a click takes you straight there, single-window apps stay as compact icons, and it comes with a built-in launcher, an app drawer and a shelf. Written in native Swift.

Why does it need Accessibility permission?

The taskbar needs it to read the window list and to switch and minimize windows, which is what macOS requires of any window-management tool. Ordinary input is not recorded, modified or uploaded, and the app never collects anything over the network.

Which Macs and macOS versions are supported?

macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, universal for Apple silicon and Intel. The installer is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with a plain double-click.

Will it slow my Mac down?

No. Tungsten Edge is written in native Swift rather than wrapped in Electron, and its CPU use is close to zero when idle.

How do I install it? Is there a Homebrew cask?

Download the dmg from this site and drag it into Applications. Homebrew works too: brew tap moonbai-studio/tungsten-edge, then brew trust moonbai-studio/tungsten-edge, then brew install --cask tungsten-edge.

How do I uninstall it?

If you changed the Dock's wake delay, set it back to Always Visible in the status menu first. Then quit Tungsten Edge, drag the app from Applications to the Trash, and remove its entry under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
